What does the Resorts World Birmingham offers? Playing away to your hearts’ content in a casino, while being out at sea on a multi-storey cruise ship, has recently taken a totally different meaning. The casino is there, along with its 100 slot machines, roulette, blackjack, poker and baccarat, and so is the cruise ship, but the main difference is that it won’t be out at sea, but in Birmingham, on dry land.
Along with the casino, this 538,000 sq ft structure will host 18 bars and restaurants, along with a cinema, 50 outlet shops, a spa and hotel. Impressive or what!
“The ship, named Resorts World Birmingham”, is ‘berthed’ on the NEC site, and sits next to the Genting Arena gig venue, formerly known as the LG Arena. The ship is the project of Genting Group, a Malaysian body, which owns, as well as runs more than forty casinos in the UK.

While there has been quite a bit of criticism targeted at the casino since it might be “dangerously addictive”, operations manager Barry Clemo was quoted as saying that the resort will appeal to shoppers, concertgoers, as well as casino players. One of the advantages of this ship is that it’s planned out so well.
Visitors will be able to shop, eat and drink, enjoy a movie at the cinema or try their luck at the casino, and the highlight of it all is that they will not have to leave it since they can stay the night in the superb 178 four-star bed roomed hotel. If you fancy something more than just a bedroom, the hotel also has five five-star suites, one of which is a ‘Presidential’ one, and this includes its own kitchen. It seems like with such a variety of attractions, many will pay a visit to this 150 million pound behemoth building.
The resort, the first of its kind in the UK, Mr. Clemo also says will employ a staff of 1,200, and can accommodate a staggering 12,000 people of various age groups, at any time.

The new Resorts World, a major investment to the West Midlands, will surely be a huge visitor attraction, adding to the already wide range of attractions in the area. Just to name a few, are Warwick Castle, The Library of Birmingham, and Cadbury World, a popular place by millions of visitors.
